Japanese people know about it, but it's not well-known among foreign tourists. I'd like to introduce a famous spot for Gundam plastic models (Gunpla). It's the Yamada Denki store in Ikebukuro. Yamada Denki is an electronics store where Japanese people go to buy electrical products. On the 6th floor of this store, there is a Gundam specialty shop that boasts one of the largest selections in Tokyo, second only to Gundam Base Tokyo in size.

The concept of the store is focused on visuals. They create an impressive atmosphere through a wide variety of products and enhance the experience with interactive exhibition corners. They strive to help customers find what they desire by allowing them to actually experience the products. One of the store's strengths is its range of products. They have a decent collection of popular Gunpla that may be sold out at nearby stores.Since the store is not crowded, you can take your time to choose your Gundam models. When Gundam fans visit Tokyo, they should definitely visit this store. Once you see the range of Gundam models lined up on the shelves, it will be hard not to get excited.

Yamada Denki has a very spacious floor, and since not many Gundam fans visit, the products are always easy to see. Foreign Gundam fans are rarely seen in this store. It is located near Ikebukuro Station (East Exit) in a convenient and easily recognizable location. When asking Japanese people for directions in Ikebukuro, you can simply ask, "Where is Yamada Denki?" It is truly a highly recommended spot.

Nakano Broadway is a sacred place where a wide variety of manga and anime merchandise is sold. It is crowded with a large number of foreign tourists visiting every day. Nakano Broadway is a facility similar to a shopping mall with many small shops that deal with manga and anime goods. The most popular store in Nakano Broadway is "MANDARAKE." MANDARAKE handles a large number of Gundam plastic models. Although the store is small, it sells rare plastic models, trading cards, and Japanese books.

Nakano Broadway is a collection of small shops that deal with anime and manga. Each store is small but handles extremely rare goods. There are many shops lined up that deal not only with Gundam but also official merchandise from One Piece, Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, and more. They also sell DVDs and books, but please note that most of them have Japanese text, so caution is required.

Gundam Factory Yokohama is an attraction facility located in Yamashita Pier, overlooking Yokohama Port, in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of "Mobile Suit Gundam." It features a moving, life-size 18-meter RX-78F00 Gundam. Admission fees are required for entry, and same-day tickets are sold at the entrance. The facility also includes an official Gundam merchandise store, although the store's scale is small. The facility itself is named "Gundam Activation Test Factory" and conducts a live demonstration of the full-scale moving Gundam as an attraction once every hour. The operational test is incredibly impressive. Any Gundam fan would be excited to witness this operational test. Additionally, by making a reservation in advance, visitors can ascend to the maintenance deck at the same height as the 18-meter moving Gundam (for a fee). Watching the activation test of the Gundam from a height of 20 meters above the ground will surely be a moving experience.

The official merchandise store sells Gundam plastic models and merchandise collaborated with local companies in Yokohama. In terms of assortment, the Gundam models at Gundam Base in Tokyo offer a better selection than Gundam Factory Yokohama. It is recommended to recognize Gundam Factory as a place to visit for its impressive activation tests. The activation test I witnessed was impactful, and I felt fortunate to have come to this place.

Gundam Factory Yokohama is quite a distance away from the Minatomirai Line station, and you will need to walk a considerable distance. Once you exit the station, head towards the direction of the sea, and you will start seeing the large Gundam in the distance. Simply walk towards it. When returning from the facility, it is convenient to use the bus bound for Yokohama Station, which departs near the entrance.

If you just want to enter Gundam Factory, you can simply buy an admission ticket at the entrance on the day. However, if you want to experience the "Gundam Dock," where you can see the life-size Gundam up close during its activation experiment, advance reservation is necessary. You can make a reservation in advance through the Gundam Factory Yokohama website, but please note that the explanatory page may be in Japanese only and could be difficult to understand. Nevertheless, even if you don't enter the Gundam Dock, you can still see the Gundam's activation experiment and enjoy it to the fullest.
